EXECUTIVE SEMINAR: The management of projects

Tuesday, 12/02/2008

ALBA Graduate Business School organized an executive seminar on: The Management of Projects, which took place on March 3-4, 2008 at the ALBA premises.

The lecture was conducted by Dr. George Harjinicola, Associate Professor of Operations Management, University of Cyprus, Visiting Professor, ALBA Graduate Business School

Description
Project-based management is becoming the new phase of general management in today's contemporary business world, since nearly all managers are involved in projects. Major projects include construction of transport, telecommunications, and energy-related systems whereas smaller projects include, for example, building new facilities, maintaining existing facilities, research and development of new products, new product
launching, implementation of new technologies, and training activities. In addition to the more traditional types of products undertaken within the organization, clients expect to make every product, bought from firms, an individual customized design. This makes every product a mini project. Given that most projects are characterized by their complexity, uniqueness, and their temporary nature, the question that arises is what steps must a manager follow to successfully complete the project he/she has been assigned as the project manager? In this seminar, participants will be exposed to a systematic approach in taking on projects. Participants will also learn the functions of project-based management that managers must consider in order to successfully deliver their project.

Participant Profile
Senior executives and senior managers wanting to overview the principles of project-based management and their contribution to the firm's success. Project, new product development and product managers who want to be up-to-date on cutting edge practices in project-based management.
