Awards ceremony for the top five companies in equal opportunities

For the first time in Greece, a competition recognizes and rewards the promotion of equal opportunities in the workplace.

The competition is organized in the framework of the EU EQUAL funded, project ANTHISI, by ALBA Graduate Business SchoolHellenic Federation of Enterprises,  the General Secretariat for Gender Equality, Ministry of Interior and the Greek Personnel Management Association (GPMA). ALBA is responsible for the design and implementation of the competition, as well as for the evaluation of participating companies.

The awards ceremony took place on December 11 at Aigli Zappeiou. The five winning companies are: SHELL HELLAS S.A., INTRACOM HOLDINGS, EXODUS, BP HELLAS and MC DONALD'S HELLAS.

The awards were presented to the winning companies by Ms Eygenia Tsoumani, General Secretary of Equality of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Giannis Tavoularis, Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, Mr. Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis, General Secretary of the Administration of Community and Other Funds, Ministry of Employment and Social Protection, Mr. Dionysis Nikolaou, General Manager of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, Mr. Nikos Analytis, Representative of GPMA (and President of the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility) and Prof. Nickolaos G. Travlos, Dean, ALBA Graduate Business School.

During the event, Dr. Olga Epitropaki, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management at ALBA, presented the philosophy, methodology and evaluation criteria of the competition. Dr. Epitropaki was also the scientific supervisor of the competition.

The evaluation of companies was based on a structured questionnaire, focusing on the main areas that have been identified as important for the promotion of equal opportunities (gender equality) in the Greek business context. The final evaluation and ranking of participating companies was performed by a committee of experienced business executives, academics and researchers in the gender equality sector consisting of: Ms. Tzeni Doumani, General Secretary of Equality, Mr. Nikos Analytis, Mr. Dionysis Nikolaou, Mr. Nikos Ebeoglou, President of the Board, ALBA Graduate Business School and Mr. Christos Giannoulopoulos, President of GPMA.

The Competition will be organized every year with the aim to promote practices of equal opportunities among Greek companies. All companies are invited to participate in this initiative, in order to claim a place in the top 5 list of Greek companies.
